Flex Alert: Californians Asked To Conserve Power Tonight From 4p-9p

To prevent rolling power outages, a flex alert was issued encouraging Californians to conserve power on Wednesday 7/28 from 4p-9p PST. There will reportedly be higher-than-normal temperatures in the East Bay and parts of Northern California.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the California Independent System Operator predicts:

...an increase of “electricity demand, primarily from air conditioning use.” That rise in electricity use can strain the state’s power supply and can “make electricity supplies tight.

Officials urge residents to conserve power by turning off unnecessary lights and using major appliances (washers, dryers, dishwashers, etc.) after 9p tonight.
