CHP Warning Of New Roadside Scam
According to the CHP, there is a new scam that is affecting Bay Area motorists. People are pretending to be broken down on the side of the road or at gas stations and are asking good Samaritans for gas money in exchange for fake jewelry. The helpless victims usually share a sob story about being stranded without gas money and offer to give up a prized possession in exchange for gas or cash. The suspects are working in a group and or "families." The issue has been reported in quite a few California cities so be aware.
