When it comes to guitar-playing, Metallica's James Hetfield has two standout influences.
In a video demoing his new guitar strings collaboration with Ernie Bell, Hetfield shared that two rock icons influenced him to pick up and play the guitar: Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath and Johnny Ramone from The Ramones.
Hetfield said that the two guitarists "helped develop my style. So kind of a combination of punk rock and heavy rock at the time you know, turned into just the down picking style and with melody along with it."
Hetfield's first-ever collection of guitar strings is called Papa Het's Hardwired Master Core and can be found online at Metallica.com
