Aerosmith is set to have a huge weekend, but it seems the celebrations will be marred by internal politics. Joey Kramer is suing his bandmates, claiming that they've shut him out from returning to the drum kit. He alleges that he was told to audition for the role he's held for 50 years. Responding to the suit, Aerosmith calls Kramer "our brother," but says he can't perform with them at either the Grammys or the MusiCares events because there won't be time for necessary rehearsals.
The Boston rockers have invited Kramer to attend, just not join them on stage.
TMZ says drummer Joey Kramer is suing Aerosmith for not letting him return to his own band after recovering from some injuries he received in 2019.
The lawsuit claims that Aerosmith forced Kramer to audition for his own band to prove he could play "at the appropriate level." Kramer says no other member of Aerosmith has had to audition to return to the band when they've left for various reasons.
The band is supposed to perform at the Grammys this Sunday but it's not been confirmed who will be behind the drum kit.
