Do you ever look in the mirror and analyze your hairline and wonder if it’s receding? If you feel like it is, you might be doing something that’s causing it.
First of all, check out how your hair actually grows, The Hair Trauma Center in Chicago breaks it down! I used to think a hair follicle was like a pore, a flower pot your hair grows out of. Turns out your hair follicle is actually a bunch of little cells that work together like a hair factory.
First thing it does is manufacter the strand of hair, pushing it out until it gets to some particular length. Then the follicle goes into a resting phase until the follicle sheds the hair and starts over again.
What happens when you start to lose your hair is certain follicles make smaller and smaller pieces of hair, eventually getting so small they just don’t break the surface of your skin.
This can happen because of heredity, and can sometimes because of trauma to the hair follicles! What type of trauma? Like constantly tugging your hair back into a ponytail or bun, or even wearing a hat with a tight hat band, that could decrease blood flow to your hair follicles, and could cause permanent hair loss over time, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

But if you are experiencing hair loss don’t freak out. Confidence, kindness and a sense of humor are the three sexiest things you can have. They far outweigh your hairline!
