Soldier Goes Viral With Van Halen Tribute

There is no denying Eddie Van Halen had a huge impact on people, especially judging from the tributes that keep popping up.

One U.S. Army soldier is getting attention for his tribute. Army Staff Sgt. Austin West has gone viral for his cover of a medley of Van Halen songs. Originally done on Facebook Live, the video has now been seen over a million times. In the span of three minutes, Sgt. West covers Van Halen classics "Panama," "Eruption," and their cover of "You Really Got Me," originally by The Kinks. Sgt. West is also an army musician. Talking with Stars and Stripes, West said that he has always felt a connection to Van Halen's music. “Believe it or not, it just came through, and I played what I felt through Eddie,” he said. Discussing his love of music at a young age, West said that he wanted to officially become a musician after seeing Van Halen live in 2008.
