The atmospheric river event that will be affecting the Bay Area starting later today (Tuesday, January 26) will be causing closures, (heads up State Route 1 in Big Sur will be closed starting at 5 pm and is expected to stay closed until Thursday, January 28) possible power outages and safety hazards.
The winds (some predictions say up to 70 mph) may blow down tree limbs and power lines. Be on the lookout for those as well as traffic lights that may not be operating
Regarding the rain Sunnyvale DPS reminds all Bay Area drivers to keep in mind these safety precautions
1.Slow down
2.Drive with your wipers and headlights on
3.Keep a safe distance between you and the car in front of you
4.Keep your phone down so you’re not distracted
