John Stamos stopped by the Kelly Clarkson Show on Monday (April 19) and told the story of how he came to appear in the Beach Boys video for their hit, “Kokomo.”
Stamos, who was enjoying General Hospital fame at the time, went to see the Beach Boys in concert and his friend was playing guitar with them.
After being chased by some cheerleaders, Stamos ran backstage to hide and ran into the band, when Beach Boys’ member Mike Love asked Stamos’ friend, “Who is that?” he replied, “That's John Stamos; he's on 'General Hospital' and always has girls chasing him,” Mike immediately said, “Bring him onstage.”
Stamos played “Barbara Ann” with the band and has been playing with them ever since. He filmed the “Kokomo” video at Disney’s World Grand Floridian Resort and Spa before it was hit so the spectators were less than enthused about the song, but it later shot to number one after it was added to the Tom Cruise movie, “Cocktail.”
