True or false: If you stick a knife into a toaster you could get electrocuted

What would you think the answer is? My 19-year old son Ryder asked me this over the weekend and here’s what I found out!

TRUE! It is possible to get a shock that could potentially kill you if you stick a knife into a “live” plugged-in toaster. You could potentially create a new path for the electricity to travel through, bypassing the toaster and zapping through you! So let’s say you unplug the toaster before you fish out your bread: are you good to go? No, because anytime you stick a knife into the toaster you could break or bend the thin wire that’s the heating element. That could make it so you get a shock when you plug the toaster back in!

If you need to free your jammed toast, unplug your toaster, pull out the crumb tray on the bottom and push the toast through without touching any heating elements.
