Study Finds Plant-Based Diets Slashes Your Risk Of Heart Disease

Listen to your heart! Did you know cardiovascular disease is the leading global cause of death? The American Heart Association recently published a study showing eating particular foods slash your risk of heart disease in half!

It took researchers 30-years to study almost 5,000 adults and they found the best foods to include in your diet for a healthy heart are: (sorry bacon!)

Fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and whole grains. The worst foods for your heart? Fried potatoes, high-fat red meat, salty snacks, pastries, and sodas.

To keep your heart healthy, experts are now recommending the Portfolio Diet. It encourages you to eat as much as you can of the top cholesterol-lowering foods like nuts, plant proteins (think tofu and beans) along fiber-providing foods including oats, barley, and eggplant.

Which do you think you eat more of, foods good for your heart or foods bad for your health? If you eat more of the bad, make the switch! Your future self will thank you!
