I took a few days off last week as I have been side-lined by a relapse of hearing loss. If you listen regularly you know I’m always saying, “wait can you say that one more time?” as I lost a bunch of hearing back in 2001 due to a condition known as Sudden Hearing Loss. I took a hearing test last week which shows it seems to be back again, this time with a bit of dizziness so I’ve been struggling to stay on my feet mentally and physically!
I found this video by the spiritual, meditation teacher Eckhart Tolle, Staying Conscious in the Face of Adversity. It felt perfect for me right now, but it’s also perfect for the world. There’s so much swirling around us (pandemic, Afghanistan, recall election, fires) it’s like we’re living all of Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Start The Fire, in one slice of time.
One calming technique Eckhart Tolle advises is connecting with your true essence identity. Basically, he says take a moment to become aware of your DEEP self. Your inner spark of consciousness. Below the noise of your thinking. That inner self is always with us and we can draw calm from that source of strength at any time.
This whole talk is interesting but if you’re short on time the meditation practice starts at 05:30:00
What gives you strength in the face of adversity? Let me know, I could use it for sure!
