Never mind that it's been six years since he last appeared on stage with Van Halen. David Lee Roth has announced his retirement nevertheless.
The 66-year-old singer says his last-ever performance will be on January 8th, when he wraps up a handful of shows at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.
“I’m throwing in the shoes,” Roth says. "I am encouraged and compelled to really come to grips with how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter.”
Meanwhile, Wolfgang Van Halen has reacted to former bandmate David Lee Roth's retirement announcement -- and it's not the snarky send-off you might have been hoping for.
“One hell of a run, Dave," the Mammoth VH founder writes on Instagram alongside a photo that shows the two onstage. Also weighing in on Twitter, Van Halen writes, "Thankful and proud to be a small part of your amazing journey.”
