Where’s the best place for your smoke alarms to be?
The US Fire Administration says every bedroom needs a working smoke alarm so you can “hear the beep where you sleep!” This is important as most fires happen between 11 pm and 7 am when most people are sleeping. Ideally, you should have an alarm in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of your house including your basement so everyone can hear the beep. Test your alarms once a month by pushing the test button, and replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old or if they don’t make a noise when you push the button.
