As Duran Duran gets back to the stage, the group reminisces about their youth and the prime of their music careers.
When they released their debut album in 1981, Duran Duran did a photoshoot with Smash Hits where instead of featuring the group or lead singer, Simon Le Bon, it featured the keyboardist and drummer.
“Typically, you’ve got one guy, maybe two, who have that kind of teen appeal, and the rest are along for the ride. We had five!” said John Taylor.
While the group started in their late teens and could get by on being mediocre, Taylor says now at 60, “you better put a show together. People don’t want to see you tired and saggy – they want to see you looking good.”
