The legendary “Frankenstrat” guitar played by Eddie Van Halen in the “Hot For Teacher” video has been auctioned off for a staggering $3.9 million.
The guitar included an official letter of authentication from Kramer Guitars designer Paul “Unk” Unkert, who made the instrument to Eddie Van Halen’s specifications. In it, Unkert reveals the guitar was his final project for Kramer.
Sotheby’s Auction House officials had expected the Frankenstrat to fetch between $2 million and $3 million, they say.
