Heads up Moms and Dads! These are the states where you can buy back-to-school supplies tax-free:
Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia.
These 16 states (plus Puerto Rico) have “sales tax holidays” for school supplies.
If your state isn’t on this list, write to your representative! Better yet have your kids write!

Please make school supplies tax-free to help my mommy and daddy help me get a good education. So one day I can be as important as you.

That last line is because it never hurts to schmooze someone you’re trying to get to do something, and a handwritten note from a kid can make things happen!
