Target opened 11 smaller format stores across the U.S. last week as part of its ongoing strategy to readjust its brick-and-mortar presence. The format is aimed at creating a more streamlined shopping experience with curated selections of products depending on the store's location. The square footage of the new locations ranges between 12,000 to 80,000, a significantly smaller footprint than the average 145,000-square-foot standard Target store. The company also plans to open 75 more small format stores by 2019.
