McDonald's Testing Out Plant-Based P.L.T.
Plant-based burgers may soon come to McDonald's menus, with the fast-food giant testing Beyond Meat patties at locations in Canada.
Food & Wine says 28 restaurants in Southwestern Ontario will get the new P.L.T. starting on September 30, with the trial lasting 12 weeks.
Burger King, White Castle, Carl's Jr., and TGI Fridays have all jumped on the meat-free burger train recently, but MickyD's chose to wait, says Chris Young, senior director of global menu strategy.
Rather than just adapt one of their existing offerings, McDonald's is building the P.L.T. from scratch to assure the flavors work with the patty.
