The Bay Bridge Just Slashed Their Toll Price

Here is a piece of good news in this crazy world, the Bay Area Toll Authority voted Wednesday to halt congestion pricing on the Bay Bridge indefinitely during the coronavirus pandemic. Congestion prices usually rise to $7 during peak hours from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The new toll for two-axle vehicles will be $6 all day and at all times. The new price change will be effective on Thursday morning. Currently the charge for express toll lanes along Highway 237, Interstate 580 and Interstate 680 have also been suspended. If you do have to cross the Bay Bridge or any other Bay area bridge remember that there are no toll takers, the toll authority will send you a bill in the mail. You can also open a Fastrak account by logging onto bayareafastrak.org or by calling (877) 229-8655.

HOW TO PAY YOUR TOLL

Cash is not being collected at Bay Area bridges as of 3/21/20. This is to protect toll-paying customers and toll collectors from the risk of exposure to the coronavirus during the current public health emergency. You can use FasTrak to pay your toll. If you do not have FasTrak, you will receive a bill in the mail for just the amount of your toll. It is called a violation, but there are no penalties - just pay the toll by mail with a check or online from the home page of bayareafastrak.org. Click on "Look Up Violation or Invoice". If you have FasTrak, this change does not apply to you.

VIOLATIONS PRIOR TO MARCH 21

Violations received prior to March 21 will not incur additional late fees due to COVID-19. FasTrak is temporarily delaying additional violation penalties and delaying sending unpaid notices to DMV hold or collections. Both of these will go back into effect at a later date, so you may wish to pay your violation before additional penalties are reinstated. Golden Gate Bridge travelers will continue to receive penalties.
