San Mateo County just got the green light from the state to resume business at gyms, movie theaters, indoor dining and hair salons. Businesses that reopen must adhere to strict state guidelines including specific employee training, masks and 6 foot social distancing. According to the San Mateo County website a new health order is expected to be issued this week, which will make clear what business may open and what guidelines they must follow. Board President Warren Slocum said, “People want to get back to work. That said, it’s up to all of us to continue to wear face coverings and to maintain social distancing so we can continue to reopen both the economy and our social lives in a safe manner.”

Indoor dining is already happening in Napa, Sonoma, Solano, and Santa Cruz. Restaurants in Contra Costa County can start indoor dining on July 1.

Personal services like nail salons and tattoo parlors, playgrounds, concert venues and higher education are still not be allowed anywhere in the state.
