The COVID-19 pandemic has caused several changes especially within our daily shopping routines. Several stores have implemented senior shopping hours as well as mask requirements and now Walmart is adding a new rule to the mix. The retail giant announced that they would like customers to use credit and debit cards for payment.
The pandemic has caused a coin shortage throughout the United States and they are asking customers to avoid paying cash because they are finding it difficult to give them change. Kroger's announced earlier this week that they would stop giving customers loose change in their stores.
According to the Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell, “What’s happened is that, with the partial closure of the economy, the flow of coins through the economy has gotten all — it’s kind of stopped.”
