It is the end of an era. Longtime Bay Area News anchor Frank Somerville said that he is done with KTVU. In an interview with the Bay Area News Group Frank said, “My guess is that I’m not coming back to Channel 2,” Somerville told The Chronicle. “That’s just a guess. But I have no reason to think otherwise.”
It has been a rocky road for Frank ever since he was surprisingly snatched off to the air after a slurred report. He returned months later with no explanation and was suspended shortly after following comments he made while covering the Brian Lundrie case and the subsequent disappearance of Gabby Petito.
Frank became an anchor at the station in 1992 and started co-anchoring the evening shows in 2008, following in the footsteps of Dennis Richmond.
KTVU has not made any comment. Frank did express interest in working with another broadcast network in the market stating, “I would love to work at one of the other stations...If not, I’ll go to other stations outside of the market.”
