Cyndi Lauper and Sam Smith performed at the White House on Tuesday (December 13) to mark the historic signing of the “Respect For Marriage” act which protects LGBTQ+ and interracial marriage.
Sam Smith performed on the south lawn, belting out his ballad, “Stay With Me,” while Lauper performed her 80’s hit, “True Colors.”
“This time love wins,” said Lauper during her speech where she thanked President Biden and his colleagues for making it legal for all Americans “to love who they love.”
“We can rest easy tonight because our families have been validated,” said Lauper.
