A serious fan of the film E.T. has just scored big in the movie memorabilia category when a person shelled out $2.5 million for the original mechatronic model that brought the alien character to life.
The fantastic piece of engineering was created by Carlo Rambaldi, "The Father of E.T.," and has 85 points of movement.
Other pieces from the film that sold were the BMX bike used in the classic bike scene for $115,200 and the E.T. model made for Steven Spielberg to approve for the film sold for $125,000.
